Been busy yesterday so didn’t update bloggy here. Anyway I’ve good news – the Telekom technician came on Wed 26 Nov! And he finally uncovered the mystery of why I wasn’t able to make outgoing calls to local fixed lines. It’s because I added the 07 prefix. Arghhh, what a blooper! Guess things ain’t as simple as in Singapore – the local number is the same whether you use your fixed line or mobile phone to dial the number. Glad that I can finally rest my case on Telekom…until the next “blockbuster” occurs. Crossing my fingers that it won’t be soon.

I have no idea what the Telekom customer service officers typed in their reports. Despite my stating over and over again that I can’t make outgoing calls, nothing has been done about it. Is Telekom’s customer service department just a one-way router – to dump complaints into the inbox of the technical department and expect that things will get done?? And guess what, the customer service officer told me last night during my Nth complaint that the case had been closed. CLOSED??? By whom??? When the issue has not been fixed??? Gee…that really makes me fume!

So…I made yet another complaint today (the 5th one), demanding to talk to the manager this time. Not gonna talk to ikan bilis who only knows how to say this at best “I will submit a report and send it to the technical department, this is all I can do for you”. No kidding, these are the exact words the customer service officer told me last night. No assurance that she or anyone else will follow up on the case.

Malaysia boleh? Tak boleh lah.

Take a look at this:

In Yoda’s words “Indeed, impressive it is”. But will it meet expectations which have been raised with such online publicity/marketing material? I seriously hope it’s not just hype.

TV reception

Thanks to the maintenance crew here, my TV reception is heaps better now. Actually the reception on Channel News Asia and local channels (TV2/TV3/nTV7) had been quite bad for some time but I’d put up with it since Singapore Channel 5 and 8 were excellently sharp. But with the need to keep up with (bad) news on Channel News Asia, I decided to plead with the maintenance/service experts to get the reception fixed. No more grainy TV…yeah! 🙂 Thanks guys!!!

Surprise!! Received calls from both Telekom and Digi today. Does that spell h-o-p-e?

This morning, Telekom assured me that the technician will work on it asap and I will be contacted once there is any updates. Have not received any call after that…guess I should lower my hopes.

In the afternoon, I received a call from Digi and was told that there IS a Digi base station located at Desa Harmoni at Leisure Farm. Wait a minute…is there such a place in LF or is he spoofing? Anyway, he told me that LF is classified as “low coverage area”, “planners have been told to set up a new base station to strengthen network signal in this region”, “application for setup of new Digi base station has been submitted to town council but approval has not been received yet”, “there are no plans for improvements to be carried out for this year”. Considering that we’re just about a month to the end of this year, that simply means “don’t expect Digi to perform miracles by end 2008”. He asked me to help to “monitor the network signal for the next 6 months”. Hey, how about rewarding me for being such a helpful customer? The mentality adopted by most locals here would be to either tolerate with the fault or simply switching to another mobile operator. But I chose to keep complaining about it, pushing them to get something done. Is this worth the trouble, I wonder. Let’s hope it is.

I chanced upon Digi holding a roadshow at a minimart in Gelang Patah last Tuesday (Tue 11 Nov). Took the opportunity to make the complaint about the bad reception for Digi customers at Leisure Farm location. But somehow, not being sure if any action was taken for the complaint, I made yet another complaint about this via Digi’s website 2 days ago. Yesterday I received a reply from Digi customer service, requesting for more details. Impressive speed of response, considering what I had experienced so far. Let’s hope Digi really spruces up the network reception here at Gelang Patah, otherwise more people will switch to Maxis or Celcom.

Leisure Farm maintenance helped to mend the hole in my master bedroom ceiling. As for the roof leaks, the maintenance crew climbed to the roof and searched for possible gaps between the roof tiles. I asked them to check for tears in the roof layer beneath the roof tiles.

While the crew was away, I sneaked a peak at the roof layer above my false ceiling in the toilet. Guess what I found – tears in the aluminium foil. Has someone been climbing into my unit via the roof?? That’s a scary thought.

Heavy rain has caused the roof to leak again, despite numerous attempts from Leisure Farm maintenance crew to mend the leaks.

The leak eventually caused a hole in my master bedroom ceiling. The dripping of rainwater through the hole woke me up at 7:30am.

These are the photos of the hole and wet ceiling patches taken on 10 Nov 2008.

Reported fixed line down on Tuesday 18 Nov, 5pm. Could not make/receive calls nor use internet. Telekom customer service officer told me that all technicians have knocked off at 5pm. Line will be fixed next day. Fantastic ya? I checked the line at 12+ midnight. It was still silent.

Checked the line at 10am the next morning (Wed 19 Nov). Line’s up, hurray! But wait a minute, why can’t I make any outgoing calls to Johor fixed lines, i.e. 07-XXXXXXX? I can call out on my Digi mobile phone though. (Digi’s reception signal here sucks but that’s another story)

Made yet another complaint to Telekom on the 100 number. Guess what? I was told that the line has not been fully fixed, the technicians will get it done “by next week”. Holy cow, next week??? I really don’t know how businesses survive here in Malaysia if the telecom infrastructure is so “efficient”. Guess I can forget about setting up a SOHO (Small-Office-Home-Office) here.
